I work with so many clients that define success as reaching a promotion, making the big play in a game, earning a certain degree, making xxx amount of money, etc. etc. The thing is, that is not where the success happens. You see, success doesn’t happen with the end result, success happens in the actions that you consistently do every single day. If you want to see what your future will look like, look at your daily habits.

In these times of adversity and nuances, I wanted to share with y’all some daily success habits that will keep you moving toward your goals no matter what’s happening around you.
Daily Success Habit for an Undefeated Heart Life:
- Show up with Enthusiasm: So I stole this from the movie Jerry McGuire, but I literally clap my hands over my head every morning while I’m laying in bed and say silently to myself “today is going to be a great day!” It may seem silly to some, but you have to first believe in the power of a great day if you want it to actually happen. The attitude that you decide to bring starts from the moment your alarm clock rings. Choose to start the day with enthusiasm and then bring that energy into every interaction, every meeting, and every event in your day. Show up in your relationships like that person is the most important thing in your world. Show up to meetings like that meeting is critical to moving your organization forward. Show up to your workout like it’s the day of your biggest gains ever. Your actions are predicated on your mindset so show up with enthusiasm and treat every moment like it’s going to be the most moment ever. Chances are, it will be.
- Make a Plan. I know, I know, all my super spontaneous people are groaning and rolling their eyes, but here’s why you need a plan. If you don’t make a plan for your day you will be pulled in whatever direction that the people around you want to go. On the other hand, if you create a plan with blocks of time for exercise, work, meetings, rest, family time etc., you are then in the driver’s seat. You can easily look at your schedule and see what your priorities are for the day and then set your goals and intention around them. It allows you to quickly see if you have a break and want to call a friend, go for a quick walk, or sneak in a quick meditation or journal exercise. Also, it allows you to see what your priorities are and gives you an opportunity to rearrange things if needed whether it be more time to work on a big project or a fun family outing. A plan gives you power AND it actually provides you with more flexibility as you take the reins of your life.
- Take Care of Your Health. I’ll make this real simple y’all. If you eat bad food you are going to feel bad. You might feel good while you eat it, but I can promise you that it is fleeting. On the other hand, if you eat good food, you’ll feel good. Eat good = Feel good. It’s simple math, but it’s super hard to do. I get it trust me. I have a huge sweet tooth and sometimes my day is so packed I literally eat a protein bar under my desk during a meeting while texting with 3 other people. Taking care of yourself is hard in this busy world, but it’s also a nonnegotiable for success. If you want to achieve your dreams it starts with taking care of yourself. You are the priority and, if you aren’t at your best your work, your family, your relationships, and your life will suffer. You need to start with your personal health and wellness before you move on to your career goals and dreams. Everything will be better if you take care of YOU
- One More Repetition. I love doing one more rep in the weight room or running 1 more mile than I had planned. When I’m at complete exhaustion and then push through for one more rep, I feel invincible. You can apply this same success habit to life. What if you reached out to one more person on the phone, gave your kids one more kiss or your significant other one more “I love you?” What if you read one more chapter, wrote 1 more page in your journal, or spent 1 more minute re-reading that email before you hit send? Bringing an attitude of “one more” into your life will help you push past your limits and open up the world in a way that you’ve never experienced before. You will reach your highest heights by doing “one more” than the day before. What is your “one more” for today? Go do it!
So there you have it, 4 tried and true daily success habits. Do you want to know a secret? They are HARD! Do you want to know an even bigger secret? Implementing these success habits will get you to your dreams. If you take your focus off your 1,3, and 5 year goals and start implementing your daily success habits, you will be much more likely to achieve not only what you wanted, but a whole heck of a lot more.

You have to make success part of your daily operation to get where you want to go. I heard a parent at a graduation last year say to his daughter, “Congratulations honey, you earned your diploma, you did it!” Except, the diploma isn’t where she achieved her success. She succeeded it by showing up with enthusiasm to class, creating a study schedule to prepare for her exams, fueling herself with good food and movement, and doing “one more” than what was expected.
Your challenge this week is to create success in your daily actions. If you implement the strategies above with passion and resilience you will not only achieve your goals, you will up level your life and those around you, and that my game-changer friends is where the undefeated heart lives!
Cheers to making lemonade out of lemons this week!
